Reflection Blog Post

This class was a very beneficial class as I learned many skills that will help me for life using Adobe software products. My favorite project was the logo project because that was the area where i knew the least. I had no experience with Illustrator and learning the new methods was difficult. However, once I figured it out, it was very rewarding. The most important skills i learned was in the first unit. As i progressed with my internship this year, I noticed how much I needed to learn photoshop and have the skill sets in this particular field. I had some skills, however i enhanced them with this course. In the future, I see myself working for a professional sports agency. What I want to do in specific is to be determined. As of now, I see myself working in the front offices either with analytics or statistics. I think all of the units will be beneficial for this job. I wouldn’t change the skills i learned in this class for other skills. This class was well balanced and each unit helped out with the others, especially with learning what each tool does. I did not have to use any other resources outside of this class. The class was well designed and had several methods of help for students, especially the wall through videos. One thing that I struggled with was using a Mac for this course. With watching the videos, the tools were out of place in some instances. I wish that there were Mac walkthroughs to help those students who do not have windows. Other than this minor suggestion, I really enjoyed this class. I was able to use my own creativity in my work which made it fun and enjoyable, something hard to find in school work.

Final Video Story

This is it. This is my last project for my topic of finding your passion. This one was the most fun I had with a project. However, I had to think outside of the box for this one. I replaced my footage from the first draft with new, 10 second clips that was recommended by my peers from the feedback. However, I kept the photo calendar in the project because it was one of my favorite pieces of the whole project. Next, I made a quick photoshop opening photo in photoshop with an image of myself. I added another layer and used a red background and made the opacity at 90%. Next I added the title and used a transition to lead into my project. Another thing that caught my attention was confusion with my meaning. I first was going to add narrative but thats not what I really liked when I recorded. I was able to add little titles to each slide with a quick message that accomplished exactly what I wanted. Finally, towards the end I added a quick message to everyone saying that everyone should go after their passion.

From the start I wanted to try and share my story and help others on their path and it was very fun to do. Throughout the entirety of the course, my projects were based on motivation and this last one was about what I did and to tell people that they can do it to. It is just up to them to find what they want to do in life. Overall, I am happy with the way this project turned out and I will use these skills that I have been taught with Premier for years to come. Thank you for watching!

Draft Video Story 1

This is the first draft to my video story. My ultimate goal for this project was to show my journey to pursuing my passion. In the past projects, I have given perspective on other people journey and their ideas on how to go about pursuing your passion. Finally, with this project I wanted to show my thoughts and decisions i made to pursue my dream of working in the sports world.

First idea I had was to find several things around my apartment that were meaningful to me and represented who I was. All the individual items represented me. The sports items represent my love for sports, playing and watching. The oranges represent a healthy lifestyle, and the controller and keys represent my hobbies that I enjoy doing on a regular basis. Finally, the last shot was a zoom out of the Cougars logo to represent the biggest decision I made. That decision was to pursue my dream at Washington State University and to become educated on my field. Next was a video of a calendar created by my sister and brother in-law of my 2 year old niece. This was to represent family and the importance of how I need to be close with all members. Without the support of my family, I would not be where I am today.

What I did for the mechanics was added the video clips into slot 1 with an audio clip of myself playing the piano in the background. Once everything was aligned to the way that I wanted, I made edits to the clips to make it seem more together. The first things I added were a fade in and a fade out at the beginning and the end of the movie. These will be after a title and conclusion slide formally introducing the movie and concluding it. However I want to make a slide with my photoshop skills i learned from this class. Next I added a transition in between clips to make it seem smooth and anticipated.

Audio Story Final

This has been my favorite project yet. Ever since the tutorials I knew that my creativity would shine through. As i started this assignment the ultimate goal was to gain perspective. In my draft I think I accomplished that with interviewing my roommates. After that I wanted more perspective, but I decided to try and get a professional’s perspective. I interviewed my teacher from one of my sports management classes, who happens to be my boss as well. I asked him the same question that I asked and gave me one of the best answers I could have asked for. As he is the Director of Intramural sports, he gave some great insight on carving your own path in life.

Next thing is I had my friend help me with the piano but. It was an easy tone and melody to follow and acted as a great teacher to show me how to do it. Once I practiced I recorded it and it turned out great. It accomplished the up-beat tone that I wanted. At the end of the tone, I faded it out to show the end of the story. In the new clip i added of my teacher, I adjusted my voice to be lower and my teachers voice to be higher using the blue dots and the volume line. The reason for this is because the interview was over the phone and the volume was very different from the voice perspective. I also had to make some edits as my teacher would say many “ums” and have some pauses as he answered his question. Finally, I lined up all the audio clips to follow after each other and made it sound like it was an audio commercial. As I said before, this was my favorite assignment so far and I hope you are inspired by it.

Draft Audio Story

This audio story is all about gaining perspective. My goal for this whole class is to show that you should never doubt yourself when pursuing your passion. Ive spoken about things that I have done and what I have been striving to do. Getting perspective from someone else gives the audience hope that everyone has their own journey. It also shows that everyone has different experiences along their journey.

One thing that was important is that I make this whole project authentic with my own recordings and sounds. This draft has my interview with my roommates on their best advice. My next recording come tomorrow when friends from home come to visit and I can ask them how to deal with adversity and give their perspective on that topic. Next I would create my own sounds to add that leads into audio story, and fades it out. Lastly I would put a quick ending clip of myself telling the audience the audience that it is important to keep motivation through this journey.

I added the two clips on their own sound-bar and made edits and clips to cut out some “dead noise”. Then I had work to do on the noise audio. I found a problem with matching up the same decibel levels. My first clip was so loud. I first dropped the yellow bar and then realized that there are portions that were louder than others. I first adjust the fade bar just slightly, and then worked the decibel bar to adjust accordingly to the sound level of each interviewer to make it sound consistent.

The end product will shine and give true perspective on a great journey.

Illustrator Logo Design Final

This is my final product for my illustrator logo project. I decided to keep the message the same as I believe the idea of never quitting when pursuing your passion is relative to my topic of my journey. My whole project is trying to tell a story and this logo tells the story of how you should never quit when there are road bumps on your journey, and how i never quit when there were road bumps in my journey.

I kept the design features the same. From the first draft, I liked the circle with the stitching to give it the elements to look like a patch. I also kept the words the same but made a minor change to the design. I added 1 more stroke to the outside of the red letters and made it a dark green. The reason I did this was because i thought the light green would give it some contrast and would make the works seem less dull and give it some pop. Next thing I did with the design is I completely changed the background colors of my circle. I initially wanted to create a tree trunk down the middle of the circle. However, I found it difficult to texturize the trunk to look like tree bark so i decided to go with a different direction. I though I would make a log with different shades of brown, while at the same time creating a bullseye look to resemble to hitting your goals on your journey. I am please with the way the log turned out at the end. At first the log looked too blocked up with just three colors abruptly ending. I wanted to add shade and a mix of brown colors to make it look more visually pleasing. For the outer circle, I used a light brown and had a gradient to a dark brown. However, i sized the gradient up so only the next circle would cover most of the darker portions. This gave a “shadow” effect to the first circle and also made it a pleasant transition into the the darker circle. This circle I shoes to go fro dark on the outside to lighter on the inside to give contrast and set up the “shadow” effect for the third circle. Finally, the third circle is just on solid color of a custom swatch of brown. All in all, I like my logo and I think it turned out nicely.
